This article is helpful if:

  • You are posting something on the platform

You don’t need to be a professional photographer to make your marketplace listings pop! Listings with photos are much more likely to be exchanged. Using your phone or tablet, follow these simple tips:

  • Hold your camera steady

    • Stand still, and don’t rush. You can even set your phone on a flat surface like the back of a chair or a table to avoid blurry photos.

  • Tap the screen to focus

    • Simply tap your phone screen to specify where the camera should focus.

  • Pay attention to the lighting

    • If you’re unable to adjust the lighting in your warehouse or storeroom, you can edit the brightness of your photos after taking them. But don’t go too bright, as it can wash out the photo.

  • Avoid distracting backgrounds

    • Put smaller items in front of a blank wall so that you can photograph them on their own. If an item is too large to move, do what you can to make the background as clean and organized as possible. Depending on your phone’s operating system, you can also isolate the item to remove the background after you take the photo: Simply tap on the item from the photo itself then share/send the isolated item to yourself over email.

  • The more angles, the better!

    • Potential buyers will want to see different views of your item, so take photos from multiple angles. Include closer shots to capture details and material. Be sure to include any photos that demonstrate wear and tear, too. The more visual information you can provide in the listing, the more confident a buyer will be to make an offer.
